The Teatro Garibaldi (Garibaldi Theatre), is one of the most charming theatres of Palermo, bulit in 1961, and opened by Giuseppe Garibaldi himself, the creator of the italian nation, is a jewel of architecture, and is loved by famous actors and directors, but it had been colsed for more than four years, this was due to a never ending restauration and problems with bureaucracy. Last spring, tired of seeing this beautiful palce closed and useless a group of local artists and musicians entered the closed theatre, to bring it back to life. Now this space belongs to the people, to the artists and to all the people that want to live it.

So since tha last april, with no help and financial aid of any state autority or private sponsor, The Teatro Garibaldi Aperto (Open Teatro Garibaldi) has been giving to the citizens of Palermo a unique row of shows, workshops, and concerts, with the top of the avant grade and experimental artist of the italian theatre. Since the Teatro Garibaldi has been opened Palermo has seen all the top numbers of the italian young theatre scene, artist that was impossible to seen in town, in the more traditional theatres of the city. If you wanna enjoy a real experience of self ruled theatre, an intimate atmosphere where you have no seats, no chairs, and no backstage, and barriers, Palermo has a place for you: The Teatro Garibaldi Aperto.
